Tree number 3

Here is another of my tree images. I have processed this digitally as well. I took these last winter. Haven't been out a lot this winter unfortunately. But, it is having images like these that remind me of the beauty of the tree as form and design. There's a spiritual elegance in trees. I imagine that is why many an artist are drawn to them.

Yet another face!

I just can't help myself. Seeing faces in just about everything I come across. There must be something to that. Is it a psychological thing or a spiritual thing? It isn't quite apparent yet. I used the same technique for this one as I did in the first one. It was a blob I saw on a piece of fabric and used the colored pencils to bring out the image from the background.

Seeing Faces Again!

Okay, here is a piece I created from a scrap of fabric that I saw the most interesting face in, It seems rather ancient and apparition like. I used Prismacolor colored pencils to bring out the face from the original faint features. I had been working on a series of works I called apparitions. This image was created to fit the size of an artist trading Card. Hope you enjoy it.

Another face

I am posting another one of my meter faces. This is such a fun thing to do. The only problem is I start seeing faces in everything now.

Mixed Media and Digital

Okay, I am experimenting with mixed media here. I have taken a digital pic of a parking meter. Now, have you ever seen faces in the patterns of things? Well, I am one of those strange guys that sees faces in objects too. When I was walking home from work one day I noticed that several of the parking meters I passed everyday seemed to have faces. No, I don't think I was seeing things or was I. So, I took some pics and printed them off onto a matte photo paper. I then drew in features that were suggested by the pattern on the meter with Carbothello pastel pencils. Rescanned the pic into photoshop and presto, Meter Man!

The power of trees 2

I wanted to post another of my tree pieces. I have been experimenting with some filters in photoshop to create these images. I have actually printed these on a good quality fine art paper and have made magnets out of them. I seal them with that 3D crystal laquar. Hope you enjoy them.

The Power of Trees

On one of the lists I subscribe to, I was directed to a web site to view some art quilts. When I went there I was treated to some amazing quilts with trees as the subject. Well, I was really taken with them as I love trees myself. I have been working on some tree paintings and also digitally altered photos. So I am including a tree pic here to illustrate my love of trees. I hope you enjoy it. The quilt artist is Kathie Briggs and you can see her lovely quilts here http://www.kathiebriggs.com/

My Valentine to all of you... Out there.

I wanted to offer up my simple little Valentine, to all of my creative friends out there. I was on a digital collage roll tonight. Have a beautiful Valentine's day.

Red Challenge

This piece was inspired by the red challenge Jen Worden is offering on her web site. I am not sure that digital manipulation is allowed, but I couldn't resist. This is a digital collage of one of my photos and some scanned papers. It is physically 4 inches square. I printed the central image and glued it on some fancy red papers and card stock. I then scanned it in photoshop and did a little manipulation. I like it anyway.

Jen Worden's Challenge #5

This is my entry for Jen WOrden's challenge #5. We were to take a picture from a magazine and trace out the shape with a black marker like a sharpie. Then we were to paint within the lines using gesso. So, here is my attempt. I thought this was a great exercise in seeing composition potentials.
