Challenge #11

Image
This is my first entry into Jen Worden's weekly challenge. This one is #11 for the challenge series. In this one we were to get a picture from outside a window in our home. It could depict actual scene or desired view. So, I saw this wonderful sunset through a tree in my neighbors yard. I love bare trees. I am hoping to get more shots of other window scenes. Although I live in the city it will be an interesting challenge.

New Camera

Image
For my birthday this year I decided to get a point and shoot type camera. I did this to make it easier to capture pictures and to give myself incentive to take more photos. So, here are a few examples of what I have done int he week I have owned my new Olympus SP-560UZ. It is the only pont and shoot which offers RAW file format. Optimum format for great color reproduction. and flexibility in post processing. First picture is of my old kitty Shadow and the second one is of the foggy morning we had here today..

Messengers and Storytellers Class

Image
This is a pic of the two dolls I have made in Dayle Doroshow's class, Messengers and Storytellers. We are learning some fun techniques using polyclay and making canes. I had some trouble with the standing figure on the left. It doesn't stand actually. So, I need to try and fix it.

Tree number 3

Image
Here is another of my tree images. I have processed this digitally as well. I took these last winter. Haven't been out a lot this winter unfortunately. But, it is having images like these that remind me of the beauty of the tree as form and design. There's a spiritual elegance in trees. I imagine that is why many an artist are drawn to them.

Yet another face!

Image
I just can't help myself. Seeing faces in just about everything I come across. There must be something to that. Is it a psychological thing or a spiritual thing? It isn't quite apparent yet. I used the same technique for this one as I did in the first one. It was a blob I saw on a piece of fabric and used the colored pencils to bring out the image from the background.

Seeing Faces Again!

Image
Okay, here is a piece I created from a scrap of fabric that I saw the most interesting face in, It seems rather ancient and apparition like. I used Prismacolor colored pencils to bring out the face from the original faint features. I had been working on a series of works I called apparitions. This image was created to fit the size of an artist trading Card. Hope you enjoy it.

Another face

I am posting another one of my meter faces. This is such a fun thing to do. The only problem is I start seeing faces in everything now.
