New Year, New WOrk

New work for this great new year ahead of us. Here is a small piece called a sea dragon. He is about 4 inches in length and lives in his purple sea shell. He is sculpted out of polymer clay and then painted with acrylics. He has glass bead eyes. This is a front on shot of him.



Here we have a side view of the little guy. There is a metal loop built into him so that he can hang as an ornament.


This is a work in progress. He isn't sitting on his stump yet. He will be a forest story teller. I had him started before Christmas actually. Initially he was going to be a goblin Santa for a friend but, decided that he wasn't a Santa ofter all. This is my first attempt at making a character with hooved feet.


Here is a side of him. He has a furry tail of sorts and a little mane of hair too. His eyes are glass beads and he is a polymer clay sculpt. Hand painted with a variety of glazes and then antiqued which is my signature look.

So, that is what I have been up to so far. I am planning on doing a few more sea goblins or dragons as I was given a nice little stash of sea shells for Christmas from a friend. Until next time.

Saying Thank You in a Giveaway

You aren't seeing things.  I have posted this piece before.  But, this time is different.  I wanted to celebrate two things in my little life.  First is hitting 140 followers here on this blog.  I am so honored by the loyal friends who come and visit me and my art goings on.  Thank you for that support and encouragement.  Secondly, a good friend and artist I know really inspired me with her own unique spiritual perspectives on giving.  So, MarZel this is to honor your wonderful contribution to my world as well. My Brick for Breast Cancer Entry

I wanted to make sure I posted this weekend. So, here is my finished entry into this years "Bricks for Breast Cancer" charity called "Bricks Along the Journey". The premise as mentioned in an earlier post is to alter a brick and make it into an art piece. There must be a pink ribbon on it somewhere. So, above is my entry for this year. It is titled, "Taming the Monster" and the idea is that cancer is the big MONSTER, and the woman atop his head is taming him or in my eyes surviving. I have done this charity four times now and really enjoy it. I hope it goes for a bunch of money as it all goes to the cause. I am still trying to finish a few more projects so I can move on to other things. Will post those when I finish them up. Have a good one all.
