Medium Challenge Acrylics

Image
As promised here are some pics of the little sculpt I did for the current medium challenge at the art store where I work. It is created on a deep edge canvas that I attached some heavy illustration board to to give it some strength.  It was then covered with some tartalen and then I used modeling paste and glass bead gel for the texture. Once the texturing was dry I used many layers of paint glazes to get the final coloration.  The canvas measures 5x5 inches.  The sculpted pieces are created using some Premo Sculpey my boss gave me. That's it for today.  Have a great weekend and thanks as always for stopping by.

Just a Tease

Image
Happy Saturday my friends and followers out there.  Just a quick teaser for what I'm up to at the moment.  Working on a project for the current monthly medium challenge at work.  This time we are supposed to use acrylic mediums and paints to create our masterpiece.  Here are most of the components except for the mediums I am planning to use.  The cube like shape in the background is actually a modified stretched canvas I am using as the foundation for this bas relief.  I will post the finished work once it is complete.  Hopefully in a day or two.  This process is rather time consuming.  But, I am excited as I have several other ideas in the works.  Until next time my friends. Oh, and thanks to all the latest followers.  I am happy you found Codyland and hope you enjoy your visits.

Pardon the Diversion

Image
Please excuse the slight diversion today.  But, I just had to share pictures of some amazing mushrooms my partner has managed to grow.  He purchased a mushroom growing kit from a local vegan/health food store.  His first attempt didn't produce much in the way of mushrooms.  So, it just sat on our plant shelf for a week or so.  Then all of a sudden out popped these beauties.  They are beautiful examples of oyster mushrooms. The monsters were so excited they fell all over themselves. Needless to say I created a wonderful pasta dish incorporating these odd fellows and it was quite tasty.  So, in some ways these mushrooms really were magic.  Just not the ones that produce bad trips. Just had to share the fun.  Have a great day.

Something a little different

Image
So, the visiting dignitaries to Codyland continue this week.  Swami Goat-i-nanda has really brought visitors from far and wide here, of course I am living every second of it.  Pictured above is the Queen of Codyland herself.  Queen Geneva Isabella de Goodoux seems to be bringing something special for Swami to see.  I snapped this publicity picture of her just before she entered the small place where Swami has been holding his impromptu teachings. She is a apoxy clay head, found hands and cloth body construction.  Her royal garb is assembled from many gifts to the land.  She is more than the royal mother.  Her presence symbolizes the Empress in the Tarot.  She is wise beyond her years, kind when it is needed and stern in other instances.  Like a great mother.  The monsters all behave in her presence.  She has that way with people.  I adore her and am happy she calls Codyland home.  Her husband the emperor is away at the moment and I am not sure when he is due to return to Codyland.

Ooh La La

Image
Remember this Work In Progress?  I used a little vinyl baby doll body and vinyl doll head to make the body.  She was to become a more realized version of a previous sculpt I called the Oohla bird.  Well, after a few weeks of going through a series of stages the Oohla bird is finally here. Meet the mighty Oohla bird.  Found in the jungles of Central America, it was trapped and brought to the Cincinnati area.  It then escaped from it's cage.  Oohla birds unbeknownst to humans are very smart.  It has been relegated to the crazy stories of  such mythic creatures as big foot.  Sometimes spotted roaming from little wooded area to another. As fortune would have it, the Oohla was spotted here in Codyland.  I managed to convince her to pose for a few pictures to prove once and for all the stories are true. The Oohla sports a black feather crest, orange fur like feathers on the crown.  Black fur like feathers encircle her lower torso.  She is in a yellowish orange and brown
