Wire Myth and Magic Class Rerun....

Well, I spent this past weekend as one of the luckiest teachers in the world. Sharon Andrews invited me up to teach a wonderfully talented bunch of artists my Wire Myth and Magic mixed media sculpture class. It was such a great time and my students were just the best bunch of talented and fun artists. Most of them were not doll makers but, artists from diverse mediums. We had paper and book arts, jewelery, collage artists and most all of them new to making figurative sculpture. My hostess Sharon had made dolls in the past and wanted to return to doll making as an art form. I had such a great time showing them my techniques and process. Each of them made a wonderful sculpture and brought much of what they new to the class. Pictured below are the wonderful ladies. I will state here and now that Sharon is a teachers dream for hosting classes. Thank you Sharon for a wonderful experience and opportunity.

I decided to give a teaser or taste of the pieces made in class. Sharon has taken some really nice posed photos of the individual pieces I will share later. But, for a quick glance here is Sharon's doll. I think she said she was making a witch character.

Here we have Shara's sculpture. She decided to make her into a bird like character. She used Apoxie Sculpt to alter the head I provided. She isn't finished as she wanted to add some fabric embellishments from what she had at home. I found out that Shara is from my home of Cincinnati.

Here we have Kris' doll that she is making a man in the moon character. Sharon emailed me to ask if I could create a man in the moon face as that was what Kris really wanted to try and make. I was happy to oblige. Isn't he cute?

This awesome piece is the creation of Kim. Kim is a jewelery maker and this is her first journey into sculpture. I think she has found herself another art form.

This amazing piece was created by Jenn. She made a awesome shadow box for her sculpture. I think it is a sea themed. character.

My dear friend Ingrid came along to be my assistant and driver. She created along with the class so she wouldn't be bored. My students got the bonus of her knowledge as well. Ingrid has been creating a series of figures she calls the warriors.

This is Ellen's piece and she hails from Arkansas. She works in polymer clay and makes jewelery. She incorporated some glass skewers she found at a local import store to use as the star burst on the back. Very serene feeling from this piece. This was her first figure sculpture venture too.

This is Barbara's piece. She calls it her museum piece. A goddess figure. Barbara is a paper artist and makes wonderful cards, ATCs and books. Barbara is another sculpture newbie.

My students did an outstanding job. Can you believe that many of them were new to sculpture? If you or your group would be interested in having me teach this class just send me an email for information at codyart@fuse.net.
