Last Ornies of the Season

So, I want to share with you all the last two ornies I made for this years shows. These are monster themed. This first guy is "One Horned One Eyed Flying Purple People Eater" inpsired by the song. I was flirting with colors and such and this one just popped into existance. He as all of the monsters are such fun to make.


Here is the people eater from the back side. His wings and horn are painted with an iredecent paint. He is polymer clay over a wooden armature. and is about 4 inches tall.


This little guy is the fire monster. He isn't telling me his name as most don't. They leave that honor to the person who adopts them. If I decide to adopt him I guess I'll find out. But, he as well as his purple friend are going to the final night of the Essex Studios holiday art walk and studio tour.

The first night of the studio tour/open house was pretty good for me. I sold one of my mergoblins which is a bigger piece. I am so grateful that people who can buy art still do. I did do a bit of demo sculpting last night and started my Christmas exchange piece I need for my employee Christmas dinner. I will try and get some in progress pictures taken as I plan on working on it today. Have a great Saturday everyone.

Thank you Pattee. They are fun to make. I actually sold the purple one at my studio open house this weekend.

Projects a plenty

Hello out there on this rather balmy Sunday afternoon. I hope you all are having a nice weekend. I thought I'd post the three projects I have been working on for the past three months. I have been making some books for an upcoming show at Kennedy Heights Art Center here in Cincinnati. The show is called "Contents Unknown" and the premise is books in containers. Now the idea was to conceal a book in a container. But, many of us in the show have taken liberties on this. Some of mine aren't obvious when you look at the box. But, since we have to display the contents as well it will be obvious what the box held. This first set of images is for a book called "Memories in Blue". This book is a sort of picture/diary of the pivotal moments in my life that made me who I am. Some good and some not so good. I wanted to give an honest yet abbreviated snapshot of my life and those moments that shaped me. I created the images as cyanotypes on cotton fabric. S

ADO Art Dolls Only Elements Challenge - Water

OK , without further ado here is my entry for the ADO Art Dolls Only challenge The Elements . Please go visit the ADO blog to see some of the great entries for this challenge. Introducing for the first time anywhere, the Mergoblin . He is the first of his kind to grace my blog and studio. Several of his relatives are planning a visit real soon. He is a polymer clay one of a kind sculpt. He has a recycled head that was made for an earlier project. The eyes are fresh water pearls that have been dyed. His tail is made from a type of willow tree. I know the photography isn't spectacular but, I wanted to get him up on the blog in time. Here is a closer view of his head area. This is the other side view. He is mounted on a wooden base suspended by a wire inserted into a brass tube. I painted the brass tube blue to match the stand. This was a fun challenge that got me to think outside my usual box. Hope you enjoy him.

Anniversary Giveaway of Sorts
