Another Sentimental Saturday

It's another one of those, I need to get things done days and I just feel so blah. So, I am continuing my trip down memory lane. Here is a trio of little cloth based dolls I did about nine years ago. They were a hybrid of wire armature and cloth heads hands and feet. It was my beginnings of heading toward using polymer clay.It was my frustration at the lack of detail I could achieve with cloth that pushed me towards clay.

This first little guy is titled "Green Man of Clifton". Clifton is where I live here in Cincinnati. So, it was a little tribute to my place. He is a wire armature body and all cloth hands head and feet. I sold these little dolls at a nice little shop called Seventh Street Gifts in Newport Kentucky.

This little fellow is called the "Rainbow Dance". Decked out in all the colors of the rainbow and just loving life. He is another wire armature process with cloth head hands and feet, I used lots of yarns and such to create the texture and movement of his outfit. The hair is needle felted wool..

The wire armature for the body is wrapped with successive layers of vatting to build up the shape of the body. That is how many doll makers get there dolls to look as though they have muscles.

Lastly is my little flower woman. I dressed her in purples and whites. Yes she has daisies on her tata's. She also has violet hair. Another wire armature built body with cloth head hands and feet. These dolls were only about 9-10 inches high.

That is my trip down the lane of yesteryear. I am trying to find some older images of really early work. But, I may have to dig out my prints and scan them. I started making dolls way before I had a digital camera. It takes motivating this body to do it though. Not an easy task on a day like today.

I hope you have a great day.

So, again thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the encouragement you and all of my friends offer me.
