New Thing

I am sure you will be shocked to know, that I am venturing into some wearable art pieces. Actually you may not be all that shocked as I did make a few personal goblins last year. In addition to those a few wearable sea goblins too. The story of this fellow came about by an inspired moment at the annual show and sale my club puts on. I had seen this piece made by a friend based on a lion head pendant designed by Christi Friesen. Her work is so inspiring to me and she is a master at polymer clay manipulation. So, without any idea of how I would go about it, I made this wild thing inspired goblin head pendent complete with mane. He has white marble eyes that were hand painted by me. This is the first a prototype of sorts. I wanted to see how hard they are to make first off. Then to see if they would look nice and finished enough to sell. Obviously I need to figure out a string to hang it with. Maybe a layered cord/fiber sort of thing. Let me know what you think? Don't be shy.

This weekend, I will be able to post my three pieces created for Artworks Cincinnati Secret Art Works charity auction. I have done this event every year and have a great time. The auction and reveal party is tomorrow evening. So, hopefully I can get them up here on Saturday morning. Stay tuned.

ok if you want honesty. I love the concept, but I think his face is little too scary to wear.
He's not silly scary enough like the diabolicals, or funny like the beach guys. I would definitely wear there faces, but he's just a little scary.
Now this is just my opinion, and you know I really love your work! ;-)

Hello out there on this rather balmy Sunday afternoon. I hope you all are having a nice weekend. I thought I'd post the three projects I have been working on for the past three months. I have been making some books for an upcoming show at Kennedy Heights Art Center here in Cincinnati. The show is called "Contents Unknown" and the premise is books in containers. Now the idea was to conceal a book in a container. But, many of us in the show have taken liberties on this. Some of mine aren't obvious when you look at the box. But, since we have to display the contents as well it will be obvious what the box held. This first set of images is for a book called "Memories in Blue". This book is a sort of picture/diary of the pivotal moments in my life that made me who I am. Some good and some not so good. I wanted to give an honest yet abbreviated snapshot of my life and those moments that shaped me. I created the images as cyanotypes on cotton fabric. S

ADO Art Dolls Only Elements Challenge - Water

OK , without further ado here is my entry for the ADO Art Dolls Only challenge The Elements . Please go visit the ADO blog to see some of the great entries for this challenge. Introducing for the first time anywhere, the Mergoblin . He is the first of his kind to grace my blog and studio. Several of his relatives are planning a visit real soon. He is a polymer clay one of a kind sculpt. He has a recycled head that was made for an earlier project. The eyes are fresh water pearls that have been dyed. His tail is made from a type of willow tree. I know the photography isn't spectacular but, I wanted to get him up on the blog in time. Here is a closer view of his head area. This is the other side view. He is mounted on a wooden base suspended by a wire inserted into a brass tube. I painted the brass tube blue to match the stand. This was a fun challenge that got me to think outside my usual box. Hope you enjoy him.

Anniversary Giveaway of Sorts
